Welcome to the Official Web Presentation of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Serbia
A Brief History
The Grand Lodge 'YUGOSLAVIA' was established on June 19, 1919, within the territory of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, during an Assembly held in Zagreb. At this time, the Constitution, Statutes, and Rituals of the Symbolic Degrees (Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason) were adopted. The Grand Lodge stands as the legal successor to the Supreme Council of the Kingdom of Serbia, founded on May 12, 1912, which was the first independent Sovereign Grand Masonic Authority in Serbia. During that same Annual Assembly, Craft Masonry, consisting of the three Symbolic Degrees, was established as an independent Sovereign Grand Masonic Authority.
By the decision of the United Grand Lodges of Germany on June 23, 1990, the Grand Lodge 'Yugoslavia' was formally Revived, with its Seat in the Orient of Belgrade. Its Constitution, Statutes, and Rituals of the three Symbolic Degrees were reaffirmed as the sole, sovereign, Grand Masonic Authority.
The Grand Lodge 'YUGOSLAVIA' has operated sovereignly within the territory of the SFRY since 1990 (from 1993 to 2003 as the FRY; from 2003 to 2006 within the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro; and since 2006, within the Republic of Serbia).
At the Assembly held on June 27, 2011, it was resolved that the Grand Lodge 'YUGOSLAVIA' would change its name to reflect the name of the state in which it holds sovereignty. The new title is the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Serbia, abbreviated as the Grand Lodge of Serbia. In international Masonic correspondence, the official title is the Grand Lodge of Serbia A.F.&A.M.
